Ben Woods is a Lecturer in the User Experience Design (UXD) program at Kent State University and has been teaching on the subject of UX since 2009. He began his career in when in 1999 when the World Wide Web was just beginning to be recognized as a valuable tool for business; he held positions as a designer and UX manager. Woods has worked with global teams and a variety of consulting firms to deliver research and design that measurably improved digital experiences for customers and developed the analytics discipline for tracking the performance of digital properties and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Ben owns TheoremCX, an innovation firm providing customer-focused solutions. Ben has developed solutions and corporate workshops with a variety of organizations from around the world including Eaton, General Electric, Knoch Corporation, Midwest Tape, Hoopla, Orange S.A. and others.
Woods enjoys learning new things and continues to learn and invest in teaching others about UX. He writes a monthly book review column for UXmatters.com, one of the leading resources online for UX news and information. He has presented on UX and design topics throughout the Midwest of the United States and in Europe. Woods is the chairperson of UX Akron, a non-profit professional network serving Summit and Portage Counties as well as all of Northeast Ohio.
Ben holds a BFA in Visual Communication Design and an MSc in Information Architecture and Knowledge Management from Kent State University, and an MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.
